Wahoo, The Cataclysm expansion for the World of Warcraft has arrived and it’s time to level from 80 to 85 or 1-85 for you complete WOW noobs :) Joana has released his WoW leveling guide 1-85 and includes an in game map mod just like the Team iDemise guides in game mod which swayed me towards recommending Team iDemise Horde leveling guide over Joana’s Horde leveling guide.
Joana has released his full World of Warcraft 1-85 guide BEFORE the official Cataclysm release, he’s been able to do this since he’s been in the beta release of the WOW update Cataclysm for months! Since Joana is the first to release a Cataclysm 80-85 leveling guide and it has an ingame leveling mod I have to go back to recommending Joana’s leveling guide.

Quick update 1st December 2008, Team iDemise finally released their World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King 70-80 leveling guide two weeks after WOTLK went live, not impressed, I already have level 80 WOW charachters, this update was way too slow from Team iDemise!

Wrath of the Lich King 70-80 Horde Leveling Guide
Update September 2008 Have received a email from Joana that he is working on his Horde 70-80 Wrath of the Lich King leveling guide as he is leveling with the WOW Wrath of the Lich King beta release (like he did with the Burning Crusade beta release for 60-70 leveling) and it’s going to include an in-game leveling guide mod (wahoo).
He’s presumably added this to compete with the Team iDemise in-game guide mod which made World of Warcraft leveling with a guide less of a pain (my main reason for recommending their WOW leveling guides in June). If he can pull this off before the official Wrath of the Lich King release date I might have to start recommending his Horde leveling guide again :)
Not heard anything from Team iDemise about their 70-80 Horde leveling guide yet, so looks like Joana’s guide is ahead of the game right now. Like I said below in June, you can be sure Joana’s guide WILL be updated quite quickly with 70 to 80 leveling possible probably the day Wrath of the Lich King is released to the World of Warcraft community. At this point can’t say the same for the new guys on the block (time will tell, will update who is fastest).
I’ve preordered Wrath of the Lich King from Amazon (they always get things fast to me), can’t wait for it to arrive.
Glad I’m subscribed to both WOW leveling guides, I’ll be hitting level 80 within the first week of installing Wrath of the Lich King expansion :)

New World of Warcraft Horde leveling Guide
Update June 2008: I wrote this review May 2007 and I’ve been a user of Joana’s leveling guide ever since because it was the best WOW Horde leveling guide to level to 70 available.
However a new guide from Team iDemise has been taking the WOW leveling world by storm, so I bought a copy (Horde and Alliance versions) and have compared leveling speeds of the Team iDemise Horde guide to Joana’s Horde guide and I have to admit it’s a little faster and overall a better WOW leveling guide because it has an in-game mod guide so easier to use.
I therefore recommend Team iDemise Leveling Guide with Joana’s World of Warcraft leveling guide a very close second.
My only concern with Team iDemise over Joana’s guide is they are relatively new to offering a WOW leveling guide, while Joana’s guide has been around for ages, first covering 1-60 then 60-70. If you want practically guaranteed updates go with Joana’s guide. I expect Team iDemise will also keep their guides updated as well, but Joana already has a track record (no risk).

Me and The World of Warcraft
I’ve been playing World of Warcraft for a few months on the Hellfire PVE (player vs environment) server, started with a Horde Orc Warrior that I quickly grew tired of around level 16, the warrior class just not for me.
Tried an Alliance Night Elf Druid next, the Druid class sounded cool (jack of all trades master of none sort of thing), but at level 38 I began to have problems leveling further (got bored playing!).
I think the problem was I like soloing late at night when I can’t sleep, (bit of an insomniac) and there’s a lot of downtime playing WOW as an Alliance Druid (major mana drains) which makes playing a Druid less fun. Also my professions were Herbalist/Alchemist and in hindsight I didn’t enjoy running around mountains looking for a herb you can barely see half the time!! Skinning is much better profession for leveling, kill something skin it, move on… sell on the auction house via an alt for lots of WOW gold.
Around this time I also realised Alliance players suck at PVP (player vs player), not sure what it is, but whether raiding, battlegrounds or arena the Alliance players I teamed with lost 90% of the time!!
Another WOW player I know from real life plays a Horde Undead Warlock and suggested I try a Horde Priest (Warlocks and Priests play well in a team).
After Creating my Horde Troll Priest I set about solo leveling to catch up with my friends Warlock (level 38 at the time).
WOW leveling Guide Ebook to the Rescue
I’d like to say I rushed out and bought Joana's Horde leveling Guide and now I’m a level 60 just 4 days and 20hrs later waiting for my copy of The Burning Crusade (addon to The World of Warcraft that takes a player to level 70) to arrive in the post so I can continue on my epic adventure to level 70, but that would be a lie.
Nice to dream though…
I struggled to level through the game, but since I play more often than my friend and he creates WOW Quest Guides slowing his leveling I was within a couple of levels of him relatively quickly (he was level 44 I was level 42) after 9 to 10 days of total play time (quite slow when compared to 4 days 20hrs by Joana to get to level 60, though I do spend a lot of time on arenas, battlegrounds (Alteric Valley is cool) and chatting with other World of Warcraft players.
I’d stumbled upon Joana's (also know as Madcow) World of Warcraft leveling Guide previously, but his sales page comes across as a bit of a scam (sorry, but it does)!
I’ve seen so many sites like that with the message “buy this product and rule the world in 24hrs” sort of thing that I immediately rejected purchasing the Horde guide, not because of the price (one off $37 fee for life time updates is good value) but because of this marketing technique.
Fortunately I temporarily tried out the 1-60 Horde leveling Guide via another World of Warcraft player. I jumped right into the middle of the Stranglethorn Vale section (level 42-43). Since I’d not followed the entire WOW leveling guide from the start I’d missed a few earlier quests (the ones where you travel the World of Warcraft universe delivering notes and packages for less than the cost of a stamp :-)) but it didn’t make much difference, the Ebook was a BIG help in moving on through that area quickly.
I didn’t note my time, but think it took a few hrs play time rather than the usually half day plus per area!
After that experience I was hooked and bought a copy from Joana’s website and joined the affiliate program, so yes I am trying to sell you this Ebook.
Before continuing I’d better explain how the WOW leveling guide works.
How the Horde leveling Guide is Organised
Joana's Guide is laid out in leveling sections based on the area you are in and the quests you should be capable of completing. For example at level 42-43 you should be in Stranglethorn Vale where you start/complete over a dozen quests before moving on to Dustwallow Marsh for more level 43 leveling (about 10 more quests).
You’ll come back to Stranglethorn Vale later for level 47, so each section only covers the quests you should do immediately and not the quests that are hard and should be left for later or grouped (red, which makes a lot of sense now that I think about it).
Each section come in two parts, on the left we have a summary of all the WOW quests you should accept and complete in the most efficient order, this area also includes quest guide links to Allakhazam for each Warcraft quest.
I think using Allakhazam is a mistake, I find Thottbot far easier to use, especially since every time I load a quest guide from Allakhazam I get a Javascript error (web site coding problem probably to do with IE7).
Joana/Madcow if you ever read this please add links to Thottbot as well or better yet WOW Quest Guides site, where you will also find his Review of Joana’s 1-70 Horde leveling Guide (not as long as this one!)
He created a new hunter character and is going through the leveling guide creating guides for each of the quests and will be including references to each quest that should be performed at the same time/next (should be a perfect companion to this 1-70 guide when complete).
On the right we have an area map (similar to the in game map) with indications of where to go to complete various quests (see screenshot below). This map is invaluable to finding mob spots quickly, though I think it could be improved further if tool tips were added for example: hover over an area marked and receive more information like the name of mobs to kill etc… would be a great addition. That way you could quickly look at the WOW guide, see what you have to do without having to go on Allakhazam etc…

At the bottom there’s also a link to that areas video (low quality and high quality versions), while completing his legendary 1-60 4 days and 20hr speed run Joana/Madcow recorded the whole event and has broke it into section sized pieces for easier viewing by those using his WOW leveling guide.
At this time I’ve only looked through one of the World of Warcraft leveling videos level 43-44 Tanaris section (see low quality version below) and though I didn’t find it particularly helpful when questing that area it did highlight some mistakes I make whilst playing.
For example I’m a Shadow Priest which means I do a lot of Shadow spell damage backed up with wand damage (always buy the best wands from the auction house) which uses no mana and since I also generate mana quite quickly very little downtime making your World of Warcraft game time more fun. This means I don’t drink much whilst solo playing WOW, but still always keep a healthy supply of mana drinks just in case. When I loot a mana drink I kept it and prior to watching the video I could have three and even four bag slots filled with lower level mana drinks (milk even at level 40+!!). I’d never buy mana drinks since they drop quite frequently, so when I needed to rest I wouldn’t always use the best mana drinks available (always trying to use the lower level drinks first).
This was a mistake, now (like Joana) I vendor everything except the best mana drinks (which I buy from vendors) and only keep one bag slot for drinks (three when entering instances that are mana sink holes due to all the DPS!). Now every time I find a drinks vendor I buy the best drinks available (in stacks of 20) and vendor the rest :-) So watch at least one leveling video, I’m sure you’ll learn something about the way you play the World of Warcraft.
You don’t need the videos to use the WOW leveling guide, but I appreciate there existence.
What Can this World of Warcraft Leveling Ebook Do For You?
At the time of writing my Horde Priest just ding’d to level 48 (passing my friend, level 47 :-)) and I owe this to Joana's leveling guide (which I and my friend have now bought a copy of BTW).
So far I’ve followed his World of Warcraft Ebook through these sections-
42-43 Stranglethorn Vale
43-43 Desolace
43-43 Dustwallow Marsh
43-44 Tanaris
44-46 Feralas
46-46 Azshara
46-47 Hinterlands (doing now)
WOW friends are already mentioning how quickly I’m leveling and my friend is also following the guide. He started at Tanaris level 43-44 and is leveling just as quickly (but he writes quest guides as he proceeds which slows his progress since he notes down coordinates, mob types etc…).
WOW Power Leveling
I don’t consider myself a WOW power leveler per se, I play the game of World of Warcraft for fun and like to do all quests in an area before moving on. In Stranglethorn Vale for example our Guild is trying to win the arena on a regular basis for the Arena Master trinkets. I’ve collected 13 myself, 12 went towards the main trinket and the 13th sits on my character (check me out in game or at the armory link ;-)) This sort of thing is a lot of fun, but takes a lot of time flying from the area you are questing in to compete in an arena every 3 hrs!
One thing the leveling guide taught me is I’d been playing World of Warcraft inefficiently (to say the least). I’d enter an area, grab all quests available and do them randomly. I’m not very good at tracking WOW quests, so would spend days on a small number of quests, quests going grey because I didn’t stumble upon them wasn’t a rare event! When I hit a quest my level wasn’t quite up to I’d grind mobs until I was or struggle on trying to kill the lower level mobs (ones I can barely handle) in an area whilst avoiding the red ones just so I could complete a quest. This significantly slowed my leveling progress.
I no longer play World of Warcraft this way, now I play smart and efficiently, though I’m no Joana (he’s a leveling machine!). I don’t care if it takes 20 days play time to get to level 60 just so long as it’s mostly fun and following the guide has increased my enjoyment of the game (less frustration).
The reason power leveling works in WOW is because you gain experience from killing mobs that are part of a World of Warcraft quest. This turns 15 kills that could net say 4500xp into 7000xp or even 8000+xp because those 15 kills also completed a quest.
I’ve lost count the amount of times I’ve been grinding a mob only to stumble upon a WOW quest that I could have completed 5 times over by then! Joana’s Power Leveling Guide helps me to accept and complete quests at the right time so I gain maximum experience from my time playing World of Warcraft.
It’s not a perfect guide, there is room for improvement, but if you play WOW a lot and want to stop wasting time not knowing what to do next and level faster than you have ever done before it’s well worth the price.
Things that Could be Improved in the World of Warcraft Horde Guide
1. More information:
The list of when to accept and turn in quests when coupled with the maps is well worth the guides one off fee, but I think Joana could have supplied a little guidance on how to complete a quest. One line of text for every quest shouldn’t be too hard to add.
For example earlier was doing a World of Warcraft quest to kill Savage Owlbeasts in The Hinterlands, basically had to kill 20 of them. The map showed me where to find them, at first I didn’t realise this quest also over lapped with another quest from another area. It was listed on the leveling guide, but I was doing them in order. Basically you killed a Savage Owlbeast (helping the first quest) and then used this drum thing on their corpse to complete another WOW quest. I was missing the second step until I realised I could kill two birds with one stone :-)
A small note on the quest guide would have saved me having to load several web pages from Allakhazam to realise this.
2. List of WOW quests NOT to accept and why:
Since Blizzard is always improving the World of Warcraft game if you follow the guide religiously you could miss new quests that are worth completing not to mention your class specific quests. For this reason I think it makes sense to list which quests he skipped and ideally with a reason why (he’s done this occasionally). To add to this it would also help to list quests to leave for later, right now you have to look further forward in the WOW guide to see if you’ll accept a quest when you return a couple of levels later.
This way if a WOW quest isn’t on the do/later list or don’t do list it’s probably new. And like I said before I’m not a power leveler per se, just want a better game experience. I don’t care how long my character plays for since I play for fun and if a quest is fun I want to do it so would like a pointer on how to do these extra quests (I assume he’s done them).
3. User feedback would be nice:
Joana is clearly a gifted World of Warcraft player and chooses a class of WOW character that is perfect for soloing (Troll Hunter). I’ve only played three types of character, so no expert on this, but do understand some classes do better in soloing than others. My priest does OK because it has superior healing abilities and as I levelled I specialised as a shadow priest for the damage, but having just cloth armour leaves it at a disadvantage at times. At earlier levels I had to be very careful not to pull too many mobs at once.
I’d like to see user feedback (how the World of Warcraft guide worked for them) or a run down of how Joana plays other classes with tips on how to level as each class (I don’t ask for much hey :-)).
In summary it’s a quality WOW product well worth the cost for the time saved and one day I might just try a speed leveling run myself, so watch out for me and my 3 days 1 min WOW speed run as a Horde Priest :-)

Raham that would be a copyright infringement and so it isn’t going to happen.
The creator of the leveling guide has put a lot of time and effort into it and I don’t think the cost (under $40 for unlimited updates) is a high price to pay for the short cuts this guide provides.
I’m just about to hit level 55, could have got there faster but spent a few days in the battlegrounds for better armour (see my armoury link above, got some cool stuff). I guess I’d be around level 50 without the guide and would not be enjoying my time as much (inability to complete quests is very frustrating).

Quick update on my progress using the Horde leveling guide. Last night I hit level 60 which made me the first member of our small guild (about 30 members) to reach level 60 :-)
When I joined the guild as a low level character (level 15-20 I think) there was level 40s, so this shows how well the guide works for a real World of Warcraft player.
My wife bought me a copy of the Burning Crusade for my Birthday (May 19th if anyone wants send me something next year :-)) So next stop the Outlands and level 70!
Been getting quite a few affiliate sales through this page, if you purchase the guide because of my review I’d love to hear of your experiences (good or bad) especially if you play a class other than a hunter. Really want to know how say a mage or a paladin does with the leveling guide. So post a comment after you’ve used the guide for a while.

Another quick leveling update.
Not been play WOW as much this week (too much real life work to do :-)). Even so my time on World of Warcraft using the leveling guide through the Outlands has sped me to level 66 with ease.
For those not familiar with level 60-70 leveling:
The Burning Crusade areas of World of Warcraft are different leveling wise-
1. It takes a LOT more experience to level from 60-61 than it did to level from 59-60. If I recall correctly 59-60 took ~300K XP and level 60-61 a massive ~600K XP. I wouldn’t want to grind 600K XP!
2. Completing quests give more XP. Prior to the Outlands most quests gave less than 5K XP, in the Outlands most quests give more than 10K XP. So quests are essential to leveling quickly.
This means it takes longer to go through a level, but because of the increased XP from quests knowing how to follow quests efficiently is even more important than ever!
I think without Joana’s ebook I’d be stuck with boring grinding and probably be around level 62-63!
Doing so well at leveling that I had to change guilds to be able to end game instances and raiding. I liked my old guild, but other than Bainshie level 65 (also following the leveling guide) there was no one from the guild in the same Outlands area with us (all 5 or more levels below us).
Basically we out leveled them :-(
We’ve both joined the guild Ferocious Kittens which has many level 60-70 members and have started doing raids and dungeons with them :-)

It’s not about needing a guide, clearly if you play long enough your going to hit level 70 eventually. However if you want to level fast there’s no better way than following a guide like Joana’s.
I Bet your played time at level 70 was well over what Joana’s was and that’s the point, it’s easier to level using a guide than not using a guide.
It’s also more fun since you don’t do any grinding, there’s always somewhere to go to do a bunch of quests for easy XP.
I’ve been level 70 for a while now and still following the guide when I want to make some easy gold. Now XP is no longer an issue completing quests gets you gold instead of XP, 10-15 gold for completing an easy quest makes sense to me.
Will also be useful if I want to gain reputation for areas like Undercity, can easily find the low level quests (that give rep) and do them quickly as a level 70.

dude i got this guide a few months ago, and it is awesome… it helped me out tremendously… did anyone else have success leveling quickly with it?
Does anyone else find it extremely lame of people to go out, purchase a computer game, play for 20 minutes, decide “this is too difficult for me, how can I make it really easy and level fast so that everyone will think I’m cool”.
I prefer, after spending my hard earned coin on a game, to experience and discover all the content myself. WOW isn’t supposed to be a race to lvl 60 or now 70 and soon to be 80. It is supposed to be a social game. How much content do you think you missed rushing through? I bet it’s a lot.
So, not only did you waste the money you initially laid out on the game, but you also wasted the cash you spent on a guide that you don’t really need. Suckers.

I feel like such a looser and a sucker now I’m working my way through Kara earlier than the people who fumble around in the dark leveling by grinding!!
Tell me would you rather spend your time stuck at level 30 or something and always find it hard to find good groups or be at level 70 and working on better gear so you can raid places like Kara successfully in a good group?
Now I’m level 70 and in a good guild (Ferocious Kittens on the Hellfire realm) for me it’s become even more social since we are using tools like Ventrilo (Vent allows you to hear/speak to members of your group) that you can’t really use when leveling (unless all members of a group are from your guild, have Vent installed etc….).
Now if I’d have leveled the hard way I might still not be level 70 (I see people I did groups with still way below level 70) and so wouldn’t be spending most of my time raiding Kara.
BTW I experienced more content due to the leveling guide, since I knew exactly where to go to find all the quests. I will admit leveling this way I avoided instances, but I’m making up for that now except with very good groups rather than the crap you tend to get in a random group whilst leveling.

I had problem with this guide. I hate having to alt tab out every step I do to look at this guide. Highest I got was 5.
I had no problems reading the guide (1-60) while playing in a window and turning off “auto-hide” on my taskbar. I did have other problems however.
Quests items with random drops. In Tanaris, for example, the Laden Dew Gland for “The Thirsty Goblin” quest dropped on the first kill for me. This item here can drop on the first kill or anywhere past your 100th. If I wasn’t strictly following Joana’s guide I would have thought myself lucky, but when I was supposed to move on to the next zone I was many bars of XP behind the level I was supposed to be. It seems that “Joana” assumed I would’ve been rather unlucky on the Thirsty Goblin quest.
This happened many times after. At level 52 I was desperate not to have to grind the last few empty bars, so I went into AV to do the quests in there and still couldn’t make up for the missing XP.
As a prot pally, it was/is a horrible experience to grind as it takes forever to kill a single mob. I can’t AoE grind 5 mobs anytime I feel like, either, because I play on a PvP server and… lets just say I hate rogues.
Who knows though, maybe all of you were “luckier” than I was. As for me; I’m determined to make use of what I paid for.
TL;DR : Too many assumptions (e.g “You should be level XX, by now, If not, grind it”). Long story short — I did lots of grinding.

Thanks for the comment, I tabbed out rather than using windows mode and didn’t have a problem, I have a newish PC, so tabbing in and out of WOW was fast. My son though uses my old PC and he had major problems (PC sometimes crashed from tabbing out of WOW!) so had to use windows mode when using Joana’s guide.
With regards grinding I experienced the exact opposite of what you experienced, by the time I’d got to level 70 I had 2 and 1/2 areas still left to do (Netherstorm and Shadowmoon valley) which I did at level 70 for the gold you get from doing quests.
I was leveling with skinning/leather working as professions and would occasionally farm mats, so maybe that’s why I did so well.
Would be interested to hear others experience using the leveling guide (positive or negative no censorship here :-)).

hi just wanted to say that i enjoyed your review, as well as all of your points regarding areas of improvement (I have the alliance version from Brian Kopp) -- especially the fact that the creators should try a different class rather than just a hunter (or a warlock for that matter) in any future updates.
This is the most important fact to me because i decided to try this guide with my priest, and a few of the quests on each map are simply not soloable without a pet and class-specific skills or a partner -- hence you would have to replace the xp lost from these quests with either more grinding or dungeons. another fact however is that i had already leveled a mage and a rogue to 70 prior to the introduction of his guide, but done also through quests and not one time do i remember grinding -- though i did supplement dungeon excursions throughout. this is because i used a few minutes each time beforehand to look up relevant and available quests on sites like wowhead and thottbot. it may not have been as efficient, but i found my total played time from 1-70 to be ~12 days -- not too much of a difference to their records of

I spend alot of time helping my guildies, and running instances, so Grinding was never an ooption, but spent alot of time learning the quests with my guild. As you can imagine, with toons on Horde and Alliance Factions it can be rather difficult to remember all the quests and where they can be found.
So I ordered this guide and have enjoyed using it, Currently I’m working with my girlfriend and teaching her to play WoW. This guide has ben an immense help for those that really would like to playthe game, yet really dont know anything about it.
Some Examples: You can get into Stone talon mountains and get to Sunrock Retreat, get the quests in the area and head out and attempt to do them. I let my girlfriend try that solo.. I gave her the WoW World Atlas, and the WoW strategy Guide initially. She was completely lost after 5 minutes. I handed her joana’s and wow it made a difference.
I would say this guide is a good thing, especially for the new players who are cautious about games in general. I know many people who i mention WoW to and they are negative about it, because it is a “Game”. Yet I show it to them, let them try it and show them how to play using the guide and some of them buy thier own accounts.
This Guide is a tool, thats all it is, not something that should be ridiculed, and noone should be insulted for using it. I have 18 toons over 6 servers and I use it, not only for myself but to help others. I normally wouldnt write about something like a ebook, or on any WoW forum for that matter, but i was looking around and noticed this review and its comments and felt I would like to speak.
Everyone should enjoy the game, and Grats on 70 those who made it and to those who will attain it soon!

Personally, I’ve been considering picking up a copy of this guide, not because I’m having problems leveling to 60 (usually around 6-7 days /played time,) but mainly because I HATE how vast the Outlands are. Also, if I can level myself to 60 that fast, I’d love to see how it worked out with Joana’s Guide. I am, though, a bit skeptical on the efficiency of leveling a mage, per se, instead of an easier solo class, like a Hunter, or Warlock. Also, with the next patch, the experience needed to level from 20-60 is supposed to be slimmed down, and the experience rewards from quests in the 30-60 range is supposed to be increased. At this time, I personally don’t know if the guide is worth it, and, as stated before, I am still a bit skeptical. If anyone has any advice or feedback about the guide, please let me know.

Your mage point about leveling is valid, but easily solved.
While leveling at the beginning grind a little extra so when you should be level 10 at a particular time your at level 12, this will compensate for the pet you don’t have. Keeping at last one level higher than the recommended level for each area shouldn’t be too difficult, especially if you play the game for fun (instances, odd bit of grinding for mats).
You know as a Mage you also have an advantage, frost/slow thing you do. I’ve seen low level mages (never played one) take on half a dozen mobs with no problems at all, basically kiting them around on slow motion mode :-) So I doubt a Mage would have problems keeping up with the leveing guide.
The guide doesn’t put you in many situations where you need to be an imba player to survive, when it does there’s normally a video to explain how he did it as a hunter and you can always skip those quests. So 95%+ can be used by an average WOW player. I used the guide to level my Troll Priest and they don’t exactly have many advantages until they get shadowform (level 40+).
Received an email from Joanna that he plans to update the guide to take new changes (faster leveling to 60) as soon as he can. His past updates tend to be very fast.
He plans to do a new speed run as well since the current ones will no longer be valid.
BTW I think it’s levels 20-60 that will be faster, but not 100% sure?

Id just like to say that the review was great and i love the guide. I tried it with kroko a shammy, and although i went and took time to do class quests and some raiding i found the guide realy helped me lvl quicker and made the game more enjoyable.

I have to agree that its necessary to play the game once without the guide. Why so? If you use the guide you will less read the quests and will not be able to follow the storyline. (Which in my opinion is still the most important aspects of RPG’s) As I say this, I have lvl’d my main lock without any guide and had much of fun exploring dungeons, following the story, experience the different aspects of the game…)
Now I have bought the guide. The thing is once you now most of the game, the quests, the story and so on… it tends to get a little boring once your doing the whole thing over again to play another chart. In this scenario the guide is a must have. With 1day 7 hours played I am at lvl 26 now.
To respond to the mage area… I am leveling a blood elf mage now and have none problems with keeping track of the recommended lvl. It happened once that I was struggling with a quest 2 levels higher than my level and that was in Stonetalon Mountains… apart from that, no problems encountered. If so, do a dungeon… massively fun!
To make a fun comparison… my friend just started the game at the same time I started my alt. Me with guide, him without. +- Same game time played. He is lvl 16 now, I am 26. Do the matt.
To Joana: Many thanks for all the effort you have put in this guide. Its very elaborate, easy to follow, and still lots of fun!!!
To conclude: If your new, just explore the game without the guide. What’s the use if your lvl 70 in a couple of weeks and you still don’t know what AOD or BOE/BOP means… If your leveling your alt, ABSOLUTE MUSTHAVE!!!

Just a point, if you don’t wanna buy the guide, there are 2 things you can do for leveling somewhat quickly.
1. Get an addon(forgot what its called) that tells you what levels each zone are for
2. Ask someone higher than your range(range being, if you are level 20 you are in the 20-29 range) where they went for questing at your level.
Those are what I do personally, and its been very helpful, even if it does make you level a bit slower then the guide.
Also, if you are having trouble with a quest, most likely you can find someone who has done it that can tell you where to go or what to do, if you can’t find it on your Quest log O.o
Just wanted to give advice to those of you that don’t want to buy the guide.

That’s an excellent point Syriana for those into the RPG aspect of the game, would be a shame for them to miss that aspect of the WOW.
However I’m not that type of player and being lvl 70 for many months now the real fun starts at level 70 when you find a decent raiding guild, clear Karazhan easily and move on to the harder content.
The guild I’m in (Semper Fi on the EU Hellfire realm) is on the last boss of SSC (Lady Vashj) and the final boss of the Eye (Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider). We’ve cleared Zulaman as well (1st Horde guild to do so on our realm and I was there).
When we finally take those two down we’ll be onto Mount Hyjal and Black Temple which we hope to clear before we have to level to 80!!
From my perspective sooner you get a character to level 70 sooner you’ll be raiding and there’s nothing more enjoyable (IMO) in the World of Warcraft than 25 man raids.

Gotta say I agree with Syriana. I played through, 1-60 w/o the guide as a hunter, took me 18 days+ /played. I’m a point-A-to-point-B-to-point-C kinda person, and the constant grinding I did drove me nuts. Then I got the guide, quested with it to 70, and now I’m using it to quick lvl my alts so I can earn money for a flying mount. I don’t like playing with other players, I’m one of those “Alone in a crowd” people, so the end gaming and raids weren’t my purpose, I just get annoyed at lower levels.
One big big big boone to me, though, was that I kept 1-2 levels above the guide at all times, even as a hunter. Sometimes, I’m not even sure how Joana/Mancow got through the quests he did, at the level he did. I don’t doubt, I just couldn’t do it myself. So if anyone is having difficulty with the guide, rested exp and staying beyond the guide is really really helpful.

Hello, well I wanned to add some comments about the guide. I’m currently a lvl 70 H rogue in a kara raiding guild and things are going good. I love to have alts and love to get them to high lvls and stuff. But I always got bored to lvl at certain places or even with my gaming experience I couldn’t lvl as fast as my friends or as fast as I wanned. I got joanas guide because it was alll over the internet and most of the reviews about his guide and his progress sounded really good. I personally haven’t tryed it but I’ve been looking threw it and besides the Allakazam links the guide is pretty neat. I can’t wait to go lvl my alts from 1 to 60 -- 70 to see how long I take on doing that, I’m sort of a solo player and like lvling alone.. I hate grouping with dumb people and loosing (like most ppl) So I want to give it a try =). Thx joana/mancow

Ive got already got a lvl 70 char which i lvled the ‘hard’ way -- Ally paladin on hellifre aswell =] , so when i wanted to reroll horde, rather then spend forever lvling i decided to get this book ,and having used it for 15 -30 ( in 2 days ) i can safly say its a hell of alot faster, the only problem i have had so far is since im doing another paladin ( i know sucker for punishment) some of the quests are quite hard to solo at the stated lvl, as hunters are solo pve gods, and paladins, well arnt. great guide tho, would recomend it to anyone

I was wondering where to get this guide, and so I asked my guildies, and one guy said “Oh, you just DL it, I did it for free” and I felt ashamed. There are a lot of people putting illegal copies of it on the internet for you to DL. (BTW, I did end up LEGALLY buying the guide)
